how do we solve more complex rational equation problem

to solve a more complex equation is very easy when you have the basics down.
say you had a problem like
1/x + 1/2x= 1/6x this looks complicating but its not
  1. what we want to do is get rid of the denominator and the best way is to make them common
  2. to make 1/x have a 6x so we multiply by 6 to both the numerator and denominator this give us : 6/6x
  3. we do the same with 1/2x but we multiply both the numerator and denominator by 3 to give us : 3/6x
  4. now we just cross out the denominator and we are left 6+3 = 1x
we add both 6+3 to give us 9=1x
we have to 1 divide one from both sides to give us 9=x

how do we add &subtarct rational expression?

Add and Subtract rational expression is so easy
take 3/2k^2+5/2k^2
  1. all we really have to do it add the top and keep the denominator the same.
So this rational expression really is 3+5/2k^2
  2. now our final answer will be 8/2k^2
here is another example 3/4+1/8
  1. we must have common denominator
what is the least common denominator... it 8
    4: 4,8,12,16,20,24,28,32,36,40
    8; 8,16,24,32,40
  2. we need to multiply 3/4's denominator by 2 to make to make it 8
this will make this fraction into 6/8
  3. finally we can add this to fractions together giving us the answer of 7/8

how do we solve rational proportions?

solving rational expression isn't very hard with the right steps.
take 2x+8/4=5x-1/3
  • First we got to find the LCM(least common multiple) or LCD (lowest common denominator) 2x+8/4=5x-1/3 which is 12 because the least common multiples of 4 are: 4,8,12,16,20,24,28,32
the least common multiples of 3 are: 3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24,27
  • now we have do multiply what number for 2x+8/4 with 3 it gives us 6x+24/12
  • same with the other fraction 5x-1/3 but we multiply it with a 4 it gives us 20x-4/12
  • next we have you combine them and at this point the denominator is not that important so we can cancel it and we are left we 6x+24=20x-4 (easy)
  • we have to take way 6x from both sides which leaves us with 24=14x-4
next we add 4 to both sides this will leave 28=14x
divide 14 both side this leaves us with  2=X
  • we can check2(2)+8/4 will give us 12/4 or 3
and the same with the other fraction 5(2)-1/3 this gives us 9/3 and simplified it is 3
    3=3 we did this correctly
